Rahu
Hessonite
Garnet is the primary gem for Rahu, the North
Node of the Moon. Garnet is actually a group of gem
species, whose varieties vary slightly in physical,
optical and/or chemical properties. Hessonite is a
variety of Grossular or Grossularite Garnet. Hessonite
occurs in many different colors, and the colors most
associated with Rahu are the orange yellow and orange
brown colors. Hessonite is known for a visual effect
called 'heat wave' which looks like swirls of heat
rising off of the pavement and makes focusing your
microscope inside a Hessonite very difficult! Rahu
is associated with the ultraviolet ray, the invisible
wavelengths at the cold end of the spectrum.
